What is Involved in Web Site Design?

     Maybe we shouldn't tell you this, but writing the computer code for web sites is really pretty easy. HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is easy to learn, and there are now software programs that help you design web pages without even having to know HTML.

What is Custom Animation?

     The World Wide Web allows for the display of several types of graphics. The two most popular graphics formats are known as JPEG and GIF. JPEG is most often used to display complex images, like photographs. It can display many colors, but it can take a long time to download a JPEG image file.

 

     The GIF format is better suited to images that have less range of color, like simple graphics. GIF has one big advantage over JPEG. GIF images can be animated. This is done by placing more than one GIF image into one GIF file and displaying the images quickly one after another, as in the two images on the left.

     Animation can easily be overdone, resulting in a carnival-like appearance to your web page. But, when done with moderation, animation can enhance and draw attention to your page.
  What About Registering with the Main Search Engines?

     Once you have a web site designed and available for anyone to see, how will they find it? Most people find web sites by using search engines like: Alta Vista, Yahoo, Lycos, Web Bot, Magellan, etc. These search engines have various methods of cataloging your site. Later, when someone performs a search, they enter key words into the search engine. If there is a match, the search engine displays information about your site.
     A good web design firm will do two things for you. First, they will make full use of Meta Tags which go into the HTML code of your web site. These Meta Tags can be used to list all the key words that you want the search engine to use to catalog your site! This can be a great advantage to you in helping your site be found.
